The Ford government is doing everything in itspower to silence community voices and tip the scales in favour ofdevelopers, highway builders and gravel mining companies. At times,the projects proposed by these deep-pocketed corporations seem like adone deal, and opposing them feels overwhelming. But it’s not a donedeal, and the community campaigns that are part of RGMC are proof ofthat. 

The Reform Gravel Mining Coalition is helpingleaders in communities across Ontario to implement novel strategies toslow down and stop aggregate applications, while ensuring that residentshave a say about harmful and unneeded gravel miningprojects. On June 8, we’re bringing thepower of all these local efforts together in a provincial Dayof Action to Protect Ontario from Gravel Mining.

All of this work is to defend communities in theshort term, while continuing to build support for a moratorium on allnew gravel mining applications in the long term. It is an ongoingstruggle, and although at times it may feel like the aggregate industry has the upperhand, RGMC community groups have proven that we have the power tofight back.

Join with others in the movement toprotect community health and thesustainability of our climate from the impacts of gravelmining – RSVP forRGMC’s online meeting on Wednesday, May 22 at 7pmEDT.

The agenda will include:
