Hello everyone
David Wellhauser, Nancy’s son related the following today via Facebook. ……
Mom passed away yesterday after a six year journey with dementia.
There will be a memorial at Henry Walser Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 6 from noon until 3 PM.
Tomorrow I will be having a Bon Fire in her honour at my home in Washington @ 4pm. Everyone is welcome to come share a memory, tears, and a hug.….
Nancy was a member of Citizens for the Protection of the Waterloo Moraine and GREN. She worked as an elementary school teacher with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board at St. Michael’s school. (She was the first kindergarten teacher of my kid Didi). Nancy loved the outdoors and working with kids. She raised her kids to love and protect nature. David Wellhauser, her son, won concessions to protect the primary recharge areas on the McNally property in the Waterloo North West Corner off Wilmot line. We all advocated for the establishment of the Country Side Line and the creation of the ESL and they helped raise awareness and funds to help me win concessions to protect Clair Creek, the ESPA 19 and primary recharge areas of the West Side Lands. She was a beautiful lady, kind hearted and gentle and she truly loved nature. I remember a quilted wall hanging she made of a Jefferson Salamander. They had it on display at Joseph Schneider House to raise awareness on the need to protect the biodiversity of the Waterloo Moraine. May we continue to protect the places she loved ❤️
