Thank you for your comment. I’m sorry you weren’t able to provide your comment on the interactive map, I’ll look into it.  To clarify, the proposal is the opposite of what you described. The land is currently designated for employment use by the City of Kitchener Official Plan.  The proposal is to convert the land from an employment use to a non-employment use (such as residential, commercial, institutional).  That being said, please be assured that the Region and the City of Kitchener have strong environmental protection policies that protect our natural heritage, regardless of what the future use of this site may be.  In other words, just because the location may be identified as an Employment Area does not mean that natural features will be built over/destroyed.

RE: Comment on employment land proposal, due by October 16, 2020

Greetings Alyssa Bridge and Karmen Whitbread:

At this time, I am sharing some comments on the proposal to convert lands known locally as Hidden Valley for future employment purposes. I attempted to place an 'orange pin' on the RoW interactive map but it is not allowing me to do so. Hence, I have clipped out this map and provide my comments below.

If you wish to discuss this matter with me, please call my mobile at: 226-606-1072. 

A prudent future alternate land use for the area noted below on the map would be park with walking trails and picnic area. Such land use would act to protect the existing nature features. See below for additional comments and the map.

The Regional Official Plan Review's most recent project update regarding Employment Land Conversions Requests can be viewed at https://www.engagewr.ca/regional-official-plan.

As of September 9th, 2020, the Region has received 38 landowner requests for employment land conversions, as well as requests from the area municipalities. These requests are shown on the newest interactive map.  

Please note the following two dates:

   - September 25, 2020 - Submission proponent to confirm the mapping of their request is correct.

   - October 16, 2020 - Deadline for the general public to submit feedback on if they support or oppose each conversion request.
