I want all development moved off the Hidden Valley properties. This is a short sighted prospect based on highly questionable finances as it is.
The area is sitting in the Haldimand Tract. It's not Canada's land.
We have locally declared a Climate Emergency at the City and Regional level. It make no sense to destroy the primary recharge and heritage forests while disrupting endangered species habitats in close proximity to our Regional wells and Grand River water intakes. The road salt from this project is a major source water risk!
Where is the MINISTRY ORDERED road salt study that I secured via a Part II order with the MOE back in July 16, 2016 file ENV1283MC-2015-306 authorized by MOE Minister Glen Murray? He sent it to Wayne Cheater, Project Manager at Region of Waterloo EA File no. 14037 regarding the River Road Extension. Had it been completed yet?
It is my belief nothing should be placed or planned here until that study is completed. The ministry ordered it. Where is it?
Please update me on the status of that Ministry Order.  If this study is completed I want to view the reports. Please send it to me by email if possible.
To destroy either aquifers or old growth forests is very costly.

We need clean air now more than ever. Just today they announced how the smoke particulates from the California forest fires has reached Ontario.
https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/world/2020/9/14/1_5104388.html

We are dealing with particulates from the nearly 80 quarry pits around the Region, particulates from farm pesticides (we are the second largest foodbelt in Ontario). We also have additional particulate from increased population. We know Covid 19 is worse in areas of smog based on particulate pollution. Why are we potentially making things worse?
There is no shortage of other suitable properties. Activa just cancelled a major condo development called Avenue M between Queen and Margaret in Kitchener. Why not rethink that property for this use? It has transit, existing infrastructure and roads. It would be better for taxpayers if we put the jobs in a location where infrastructure and supporting shops already exist. It would be a better economic stimulus for the area.
To destroy heritage forests for short term gain and long term pain makes no sense. It is not worth doing. It would increase health costs of the air and water risks bumping up heart and stroke disease with the salt and particulate risks. We need all the trees we can get to protect public health. Protect Hidden Valley for the Natural Capital function it's already serving.  If we have Universities promoting themselves as a think tank on climate solutions it would be asset for the Cities and Region to live up to that.
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/10/this-is-why-putting-a-price-on-the-value-of-nature-could-help-the-environment/

We already had local well closures due to road salt and there is no prospects for a Lake Erie pipeline if the intakes are competing with zebra mussels and algae blooms. We need to value the groundwater we have and say no to short sighted boondoggles like this.
This area is too valuable left intact. It's scientific value alone is priceless. Please don't ruin it.
Thank you.

Hello,

The Regional Official Plan Review's most recent project update regarding Employment Land Conversions Requests can be viewed at https://www.engagewr.ca/regional-official-plan.

As of September 9th, 2020, the Region has received 38 landowner requests for employment land conversions, as well as requests from the area municipalities. These requests are shown on the newest interactive map.

Please note the following two dates:

   - September 25, 2020 - Submission proponent to confirm the mapping of their request is correct.

   - October 16, 2020 - Deadline for the general public to submit feedback on if they support or oppose each conversion request.

If you have any feedback regarding the employment land conversions, please contact Alyssa Bridge, Supervisor, Regional Official Plan at  519-575-4757 x3417 or abridge at regionofwaterloo.ca OR Karmen Whitbread, Principal Planner, atKWhitbread at regionofwaterloo.ca.

Regards,
