Hi folks
Waterloo Region is home to two authorized wildlife rehab groups: Turtle Haven and Wildlife Haven.
Turtle Haven is run by volunteer Angie Schoen who has done incredible work rehabilitating injured turtles from her home in Kitchener. She networks with area vets and universities who help to rebuild broken shells and treat injuries. Her website is down right now but she can be reached by phone or email. Contact info is here. http://www.ontariowildliferescue.ca/wildlifecentres/details.php?wildlifecenter_id=47
Joy Huggins is a volunteer who runs Wildlife Haven. They handle orphaned and injured animals. Their Facebook featuring their latest "patients" including a cute baby cardinal. (You never know, he may be Pope someday.😉) https://www.facebook.com/wildlifehavenwaterloo/
Their website is online here: http://wildlifehavenwaterloo.ca/
Spring and early summer is so busy for these amazing volunteers working to protect our area's biodiversity during the Climate crisis. I've known Angie Schoen and Joy Huggins for years. They are love driven and Joy receives no government funding and now with Covid 19 it adds a new layer of complication for their fundraising efforts but the animals arrive regardless and they do their best to make resources stretch out as much as they can.
Is it possible that GREN can make a donation to help support these local wildlife rehabs? They could certainly use our help this time of year.
Thanks
Lulu
