Have a lovely holiday, everyone. Thanks to all who trekked to Elmira to party and brought such good eats. Minutes are here and attached. There’s a nice mohair scarf, mostly green, that someone left in my front hall. Let me know if it’s yours. I’ll guard it for you and bring it to our next meeting.

GREN Minutes – Dec. 8, 2016

Christmas Party and Discussion of Hidden Valley

At 5 Park West in Elmira



We had a short meeting before the party to discuss Gord Nicholls’ proposal for the Expansion of the Hidden Valley Protected Area. This document was sent out to GREN before the meeting. 

·        Various options for protecting the area were brought forward—land trust, making a business case, a whole-neighbourhood plan, etc. 

·        Noted that the City of Kitchener has struck a committee to discuss the matter

·        Noted that the Region has asked its road engineer to see how the LRT could fit in the area

·        Proposed that GREN invite someone from the Region to discuss Hidden Valley with us

·        Noted that GREN needs to decide what kind of management we would like and plan a strategy to achieve it

·        Yvonne agreed to be the point person at the City for an informal steering committee, and John J, Deb S, Kevin T, Deaun M, Bob B, Gord N and Sandra L. volunteered for the GREN committee. John will organize a meeting of this group early in the new year. 



Then a good time, with good food, was had by all.  Merry Christmas, everyone.
