Enbridge Line 10 updateI just filed my sworn affidavit with the NEB regarding Enbridge Line 10 oil pipeline. It is now entered as a letter of comment to the process. https://docs.neb-one.gc.ca/ll-eng/llisapi.dll?func=ll&objId=3025064&objAction=browse. The NEB servers only allow 50 PDF documents to be transferred at one time so here is the link for Attachment 7 as well.  https://docs.neb-one.gc.ca/ll-eng/llisapi.dll?func=ll&objId=3025459&objAction=browse
EarthquakeAugust 6th an earthquake struck along the Hamilton Presqu"ile fault line and it was surreal because I was literally writing about that same fault line in my dining room as the earthquake took place. I have the photos of the event both before and after to prove it thanks to this cool website called http://earthquaketrack.com/ The topic of seismic risk was featured in the body of my affidavit as a potential risk. I sat at my desk Friday Night writing about it when I noticed the desk shaking very slightly just for a brief moment but I thought it was a combination of my fatigue and my mind playing tricks on me because I was so focused on the topic.  I stayed up all Saturday night and went to bed early Sunday around 4am.  I was done most of the work on my affidavit and I gave a brief prayer to ask God to give me a sign that I was on the right path here. On Monday morning I was proof-reading my work and I visited that earthquake website I found out an earthquake had actually happened at the time I wrote about about that same fault line that leads to the Dundas Valley geological feature. I had to laugh. It was a not so subtle sign but never the less very much appreciated. Details of that specific quake is here:

Climate Solution Panel at CIGICIGI (The Centre for International Governance Innovation) has posted the video of last Thursday's event on Canadian Climate Solutions:  What should be in the National Climate Plan?
At the event I was particularly interested in the presentation of Maria Panezi who's focus was on how Carbon Pricing can apply at the Boarder using WTO legislation. The logic that can be applied here also applies to many issues including First Nation's rights so basically, we can't impose trade behaviors unless we ourselves, are compliant to those same conditions as a Nation. Currently Canada has trade agreements with regards to Indigenous Rights but if we're not applying it locally, we can use the WTO legal argument to facilitate an equal measure of compliance domestically.  Same could apply to water protection laws or any kind of trade policies where we make demand of other nations to behave in a certain way.  You can view that 50 min. into that video.

Friends of the Earth Canada says Canada urgently needs a study of the impact of neonicotinoid pesticides used on canola crops in light of a new study out of Britian. The UK study found that on average wild bees foraging on oilseed rape (canola) were three times more negatively affected by exposure to neonicotinoids than bees foraging on other floral resources. The UK study say their results “provide the first evidence that sub-lethal impacts of neonicotinoid pesticide exposure can be linked to large-scale population extinctions of wild bee species, with these effects being strongest for species that are know to forage on canola crops.”Details here: http://foecanada.org/en/2016/08/who-is-responsible-for-wild-bees-in-canada/
