Good morning,

The David Suzuki Foundation has just released a great report on the Ontario Greenbelt, the Whitebelt, and agricultural lands adjacent to nearby urban areas and their yearly natural capital value to residents of the province. It is an easy to read report with lots of maps, photos, and detailed information.

You can find out more online:

http://www.davidsuzuki.org/media/news/2013/02/study-reveals-greater-golden-horseshoe-unprotected-green-space-provides-122-mill/

Or I have attached a copy of the report below.

This report is very timely in light of the OMB recently demanding the Region of Waterloo open thousands of acres of or our greenspace to development. I have been talking with Dr. Faisal Moola, Director General at the David Suzuki Foundation about doing research similar to this report for Waterloo Region, Guelph, Wellington, and Brantford. They recognize the growth pressures we are under in this area and will work to develop research and materials that will be able to assist our community in the years ahead. In the meantime this research can certainly be used to augment our case here in Waterloo.

Please let me know any questions or ideas.

Kevin.
