Good presentation.  I like the photos and visuals - they really work well to reinforce the message of the importance of Ontario farmland and the true cost of the loss of green space ordered in this ruling.

I also think that it is good the way that you build the arguments, show the need to conform to the planning rules/PPS, the impact and implications of poor land use planning, and how we all have to do better.

It is hard to say what we can do as citizens right now to support the Region of Waterloo in its OMB appeal at this point.  Yesterday the Ontario Greenbelt Alliance - an association of almost 100 environmental groups issued a press release supporting the Region in its appeal:

This is in addition to a number of other provincial and national organizations that have spoke up in support of the Region of Waterloo and against this troubling ruling over the past few days.

I think that the more support we can give the Region regarding the Official Plan, the more we can speak out against this OMB ruling, and the more that we can let the province know that we want to see our innovative, balanced ROP approved the way that we as a community drafted it the better.  I'm still not sure it will sway the courts in any way however, it could be helpful if it comes down to a ministerial appeal or involving the new premier at some point in the future.

Lets ensure that our local governments have as much support as possible and that we all keep working however possible to ensure the community, lifestyle, and world-class quality of life that we want for the future.
