The Guelph Mercury really butchered the facts about me in today's Guelph Mercury article. It appears they mismashed the Owen OMB process with the West Side Lands and created a whole new spin of misinformation that is in my view defamatory.

The funny part is I just spoke with the RCMP about the misinformation that has occured in the press about my OMB appeal. This one is shows the legacy is continuing.

I won my concessions for the West Side Lands. We secured the retests. My issues list is in the attachments. These issues had nothing to do with the rezoning approvals etc. It was designed specifically to secure proper studies. That's it.

As for the Owen OMB process, how can anybody loose an OMB appeal if didn't have either party or participant status in the process? This is silly.

None the less this is what I've sent the Guelph Mercury below.

Dear Mr. Andrews

I demand a retraction of false information shown in an article published on the Guelph Mercury website and perhaps your newspaper as written by Thana Dharmarajah on April 23, 2010. It states the following passage about me:

In 2005, Lanteigne learned she was being sued for $2 million in a libel suit by developer Activa Holdings Inc., claiming she caused damage to its reputation after launching a website about allegedly dangerous environmental conditions and questionable building practices in her neighbourhood.

She said she ended up having to issue a public apology on her site. In 2008, she lost her battle at the Ontario Municipal Board when a hearing revealed the developers and local governments had resolved the outstanding issues.

The article can be seen online here at:
http://news.guelphmercury.com/News/article/623915

First off I specifically asked your reporter to not mentioned the developer's name but she wanted to learn more so I told her to do a word search on the web for the company name and mine but I specifically told her do not print it and she ignored my request. This is unprofessional of her.

Secondly, I did not lose ANY municipal board hearings in 2008. Andrew Wray was my solicitor for OMB appeal PL071044 regarding the West Side Lands in Waterloo. Ask him if you have doubts.  I won my concessions by way of the expert minutes as noted in the written final ruling on page 7. Exhibits 8 and 9 the experts minutes resolved the issues and the conditions will stand.

David Charney was the solicitor I secured for an OMB process involving the Owen Property. I attempted to secure party status but it was declined. The OMB chair offered me participant status but I said no. I didn't lose any battle because I wasn't a party or participant in the case at all.

Your newspaper implies I "lost"  an OMB appeal and that, in my view, is false and defamatory.

I demand a full retraction to clarify this fact. If you have any questions at all I highly encourage you to contact my solicitors.
