[GREN-Exec] Fwd: WREN Board

Wow. Tough one John. Part of me has been feeling very guilty for not doing more to help WREN over the past few years. In some ways they are trying to do so many of the things that I had always hoped GREN might one day become or do - a focal point for all environmental groups in the area, a shared central calendar, guest speakers and events, etc. However, they have had a very spotty track record to date and don’t get involved in any of the direct advocacy where strong environmental voices are needed the most - something that GREN excels at.

It is fantastic that they are reaching out. I wish that I had more time or I might be able to help in some way but I am so swamped these days and need to be shedding more to focus on my young toddlers - not taking on more..

It is good that they are trying to be more professional and results oriented with an advisory board to help guide them. It’s nice that they have reached out to GREN and yourself as our Chair.

I’m wondering if the concern is how busy you are John, if there is some other GREN member who could be our liaison and help to guide them?

I also wonder if another approach could be to attend the first few meetings without making any commitments and assess things firsthand. It would be good to see a tighter integration between all of our environmental groups locally. We are going to have to be far more effective and engaging given the future environmental challenges on the horizon with climate change, Ford, Trump, etc.

I hope that this is helpful. Please share any thoughts or ideas.

Cheers,
Kevin.

We think that the best way to move forward is to begin by creating an advisory board to help guide the way and to stay connected to the needs of our community. As a passionate leader in sustainability in our community, would you consider sitting as part of our board?

As part of the process, you will get updates on our progress, as well as be given the opportunity to provide feedback and suggestions on our direction as we move forward.
