Hi GREN Exec,
We are nearing the deadline for comments and feedback for the Greenbelt and Growth Plan reviews. I am wondering if I write a submission on behalf of GREN if we can approve and submit it in the next week or so?
Also, below is a draft submission from Andrew McCammon at the Ontario Headwaters Institute who we have worked with before. He is looking for groups to sign onto their document. It appears to be very well written. Should we lead our name and support to it as well.
Let me know any thoughts or ideas. We really do need to ensure that we are doing everything that we can to try to see the Greenbelt expanded to Waterloo Region to reinforce our local protections.
Cheers,
Kevin.

> Dear Friends and Colleagues,
>
> Earlier today, the OHI sent our submission on this important review to the Environmental Registry and posted it to our website at http://ontarioheadwaters.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/The-Confluence-of-Need-and-Opportunity.pdf.
>
> In addition to this lengthy submission, we have crafted a much shorter sign-on letter, as attached, focused on 17 recommendations.
>
> While other submissions may predominantly address either clause-by-clause comments and/or potential deletions and additions to the Greenbelt, this submission focuses on areas in which we perceive that the Review does not go far enough and is not fully integrated with aligned initiatives, including efforts to implement the Great Lakes Protection Act, develop a new wetland strategy, and update the Conservation Authorities Act.
>
> In particular, we perceive that the Review represents a timely confluence of need and opportunity, and the sign-on letter urges the Province to use the Review and its aligned initiatives to integrate its approaches to better protect Ontario’s natural heritage, watersheds, and headwater areas.
>
> We invite you to add your organization’s name to the sign-on letter by Sunday October 30, to forward it to any organization you think might be interested in it, and/or to borrow any of the recommendations.
>
> As always, I look forward to chatting with you downstream.
