Susan et al:
This film is available on the internet and is quite interesting and does give homage to the conspiracy theorists as this was a true conspiracy. Alfred P. Sloan and the Alfred P. Sloan Institute...how many times have I seen that name on PBS?
Randy
P.S. I really became nauseated with the "Road Builders Prayer"

Hi GREN Exec,
Just wanted to run this by you before I send Paul the GREN logo. Paul Langan was able to get the Princess to defray the cost and they've come up with a date of Wed. Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m. for the showing. The Princess also suggested their usual price (see below) and donate 40% of the door to participating groups - not sure if Paul is a "group", but the KW Greens are interested too.
Please get back to me ASAP,
Thanks,
Susan K
Hi Susan, I have proposed to the Princess Cinema to show ar a timely documentary titled, " Taken for a Ride" from 1996. It is about the destruction of the streetcar lines throughout North America, including KW, by General Motors who promoted highways and buying up
bus companies to replace streetcars so there was more rooms for the cars..
In my opinion there has never been a better documentary on the subject. Considering the Region of Waterloos decision to bring back streetcars (now called light rail) to the communities I feel this would be a very interesting topic. I would do a question and answer session relating to the demise of our own systems in the late 1950s.
I was wanted ask GREN to help sponsor it. NO I am not asking for money , just help me promote it. Please see the information on the film here at this website.

let me know what you think and if any other local enviro groups may be interested.
The Princess Cinema emailed me back. They will forgo rental fee (which is nice) and I quote - They suggest the price be our regular admission 7 - princess members, 10 - all others., seniors 6.00. and they can provide 40% of the admission box office as a donation to either of those organizations.
So I will do an e-poster up , so if you folks have a logo, send it to me and I will use it,
THANKS, it should be fun
Paul

Hi all, The Princess asked for a date and I suggested - October 28th - Wednesday 7pm
I travel alot for my job and passenger rail advocacy so this later date works for me. No problem Kathy setting up a table for GREENS,.GREN and Lulu you can set one up also. Since I am renting it, why not!
I suggested $8.00 admission. Let me know if you think thats too much. I figured that would mean we need at least 44 people to break even. But is alot of lead time and networking I believe getting around 40 people out is doable. As mentioned previously all netproceeds go to your groups.
fyi - I am on AM570 at noon today talking about money tories gave to VIA Rail yesterday
thanks

Hello Paul: We KW Greens would definitely like to promote and participate in this screening. Would we be able to set up a Green Party Table with our transportation policy etc. on it for people to see? Please let me know the date and how we can help out. We can certainly promote it to our members and contacts.
