I don’t always agree with Victor but this is an impressively well written Op-Ed released today:

It’s interesting that he points out that had the Ford government not extended the planning horizon to 2051 almost no boundary expansions would be happening because there was already so much land designated to 2041.  The only reason some many municipalities are announcing these massive expansions now is to meet these absurd projectionss of needing this land decades from now.

 

This should be required reading for every Councillor and municipal staff.  Hopefully in Waterloo Region we will be able to get our Regional Council to hold the line and have no urban boundary expansion and farmland loss - ROP Review Option #3 or newly proposed Option #4 (currently under development - more on this in the next day or two).
