[All] Provincial Greenbelt Expansion Consultation Events This Week

Hi GREN Folks,

As the April 19th deadline for comments on the provincial Greenbelt consultation on expansion to the Paris-Galt moraine rapidly approaches there are a few events this week to be aware of:

1) Ontario Greenbelt Alliance Meeting - Monday, April 12th at 7:00pm the OGA is hosting a meeting to learn about the consultation, the tools available and how to create your own submission and/or sign on to other submissions with Anne Bell from Ontario Nature discussing their draft submission. 2) GREN, Sustainable Brant and Ontario Headwaters Institute Growing the Greenbelt Webinar - Thursday, April 15th at 7:00pm we will be hosting a webinar with sustainability specialist Susan Swail about the Greenbelt expansion and its impact in the Grand River Watershed. 3) Region of Waterloo Report - Regional planning staff have released their report for Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole Meeting on the Greenbelt expansion consultation.  Unsurprisingly, it comes out opposing the expansion unless the province takes steps to ensure that our already stronger local protections aren’t weakened or overridden.  It is a well written report with considerations that we should all be including in our feedback to the province as we don’t want to see our local protections threatened.
