Hi GREN Folks,
As the Ford government seeks feedback by April 19th on their consultation to grow the Greenbelt into Waterloo Region along the Paris-Galt Moraine, GREN is teaming up with the Ontario Headwaters Institute and Sustainable Brant to host a webinar on Thursday, April 15th at 7pm.
We encourage you to join the webinar to learn more about the provincial consultation and the potential impacts of Greenbelt expansion to the Grand River watershed.
Please visit https://waterscape.ca/regional-resilience/ <https://waterscape.ca/regional-resilience/> to register for the webinar (click the red text to register at the site) and learn more. Looking forward to having you join us and helping to craft our local response to the provincial consultation.
Cheers,
Kevin.
Growing the Greenbelt 2021: Regional Resilience is a project funded by the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation <https://www.greenbelt.ca/> to facilitate community participation in a provincial consultation to Grow the size of Ontario’s Greenbelt <https://ero.ontario.ca/notice/019-3136>, for which the Ontario Headwaters Institute will be delivering 12 webinars with community partners.
In addition to supporting the inclusion of the Paris Galt Moraine and more Urban River Valleys in the Greenbelt, Regional Resilience suggests that this consultation is a once in a generation opportunity to extend the Greenbelt into the broader Greater Golden Horseshoe, safeguarding the region’s long-term ecological integrity, social wellbeing, and economic prosperity.
