Couldn’t agree more Bob and Greg re: valuing my subscription to The Record. I too spend the first part of every day reading the paper and find it integral to my work in community-engaged learning and to being an engaged citizen. I am happy to pay my part to support local journalism. It is through the Record that I first became aware of the Elmira water crisis and I have appreciated their periodic coverage of it over the years.

I disagree with many of the opinions expressed, but I'm sure glad that there are people there to express them. I spend the first hour of everyday reading the Record and dread the day that there is no hard copy of the paper.

>> An easy way to read the article would be to subscribe, either for the print or digital copy. The Record is doing a fantastic job of investigative reporting on important issues. Such reporting is the bedrock of democracy and deserves financial support. It would be interesting to do a cost-benefit analysis to show how much is saved to our benefit - whether it is health costs, preventing environmental damage, better decision making - compared to the fairly modest costs of supporting a god local newspaper.
