Dear D.,
You should feel free to appear as a delegation and comment on it. Mention your background interests and make it clear what your personal concern is, that you have been involved, gone to public consultations and met with staff, and have tried to be as well informed as possible.. Personally, I think you could mention your involvement with GREN.
I've spoken to Kitchener council quite a few times on various issues, such as permitting hens in backyards (as a rep. of the Food System Round Table), proposed prohibition of feeding wildlife (which would have banned bird feeders), community gardens, official plan changes, several planning issues....

My thought is that we should say something or it might be perceived that we are willing to fade into the woodwork. I just returned from holiday and have only skimmed the final report. My sense is that some development is a given and we shouldn't beat our heads against the wall about that. They were never going to protect the whole thing and if the developer isn't satisfied, he will appeal it. That might actually be good as it would stretch the time frame for development out further and maybe beyond the Ford government. However, the remaining studies should be concluded and planning permissions should be approved with rigid adherence to the plan with no deviations allowed.
I don't have time to create a slide presentation this week, and I'm not sure that I, as an individual, have standing to talk in front of Kitchener City Council as I live in Waterloo. I am willing to do the talking. I'm just not sure that the will let me, except perhaps as a representative of GREN.

Hi Gord,
I read the article with a bit of dismay. I still feel that Planning staff along with the developer are pushing for more development.
I also read that this study is asking for Council to approve further studies which they would have to do before any development applications can be applied for. That is a good thing!!
We could go to Council to show support for the studies and to encourage Council to support the continued efforts to preserve the majority of Hidden Valley.
Hope this helps make your decision. I would be will to sit in the gallery but feel that if I make a presentation it would be perceived more negatively than positively. Certainly John Gazzola will support more studies in order to protect Hidden Valley.

Hi folks
The letter below from the city gives a link to the report the Planning Dep't will present to City Council on June 10. It still calls for a large amount of development in Hidden Valley
Attached is a copy of the article that got front page in the Record today. In case you are not a subscriber, I thought you would like to see what they said.
For me the big question now is : Is it worth while to appear at Council next Monday?
My fear is that this report will be the final say and Council will give it the rubber stamp.
If you have any comment or opinion re my negative reaction, then please let me know
Again, many thanks for your support
Gord
