My thought is that we should say something or it might be perceived that we
are willing to fade into the woodwork. I just returned from holiday and
have only skimmed the final report. My sense is that some development is
a given and we shouldn't beat our heads against the wall about that. They
were never going to protect the whole thing and if the developer isn't
satisfied, he will appeal it. That might actually be good as it would
stretch the time frame for development out further and maybe beyond the
Ford government. However, the remaining studies should be concluded and
planning permissions should be approved with rigid adherence to the plan
with no deviations allowed.
I don't have time to create a slide presentation this week, and I'm not
sure that I, as an individual, have standing to talk in front of Kitchener
City Council as I live in Waterloo. I am willing to do the talking. I'm
just not sure that the will let me, except perhaps as a representative of
GREN.
