Hi folks
I have an investigation on with the Ombudsman. I'm requesting a status update on the concerns of MNR testing for Jefferson Salamanders that killed specimens.
I also secured new info on Enbridge Line 10 and the fact their pipe crosses known amphibian breeding areas and Jefferson Salamander habitats.
Prior to the NEB the EA for Line 10 was rubbish.Had no regard for the location of the new pipe installation properties.
It wasn't until August 2017 they produced decent info but the damage was already been done. They leveled the place. They carved up the new route flat. Removed all vegetation the total width of the hydro corridor. They used bore holes under water areas and the golf course. Probably drilling up archeological features along the way for all we know. It's a mess.
Either way I'm asking for a status update and below is the report confirming the loss of 90% of Jeffersons and hybrids over the last 33 years.
Save Hidden Valley, Save Barrie's Lake. What we've got is all that's left. Can GREN help to secure an emergency order? Does anyone know the protocol for that?
I'm tired. I'm sad and I'm out of juice to keep this up on my own. I need help here.

Hello Mr. Cook
I am absolutely heartbroken to see the decline of Jefferson Salamanders of 90% over the last 33 years. Their habitat = our own water supplies. They live in the primary recharge zones.

I am writing this to request an update on my complaint specific to Jefferson Salamanders and how the MNR were using egg mass surveys, destroying specimens to identify them in spite of the fact I provided the ministry and my local municipality and the OMB with knowledge on the non lethal testing methods.
I have new information to submit today from the National Energy Board regarding my concerns for Jefferson Salamanders and the Line 10 approval process.
In the attachment is a letter received from the NEB to me dated May 22, 2018. The letter confirms the following:
-They refer to Enbridge's Preliminary Environmental Protection Plan NEB file ID: A77227 which is a May 2016 report that predated the actual route change of the new pipeline installation which took place in September 2016. It addresses the old right of way, not the location of where the new pipeline was installed along the Hydro Corridor.
-The NEB refers to the Environmental Field Surveys submitted in August 15, 2016, again predating the Enbridge Line 10 route switch with a report that still ignores where the new pipe was actually installed. This was the EA used for the NEB hearing and it was incomplete.
-The NEB refer to the most recently filed EEP report dated August 30, 2017 NEB File A5T6V8. It is a very important report! View the PDF here; https://apps.neb-one.gc.ca/REGDOCS/File/Download/3321452
In my view this is the data we should have had prior to approval. It clearly identifies that "significant amphibian breeding habitats" exist along Line 10, that "Jefferson Salamander habitats" exist along the pipeline route but to date I have not seen applications by Enbridge to secure permits using the Ontario Endangered Species Act for either the habitat disturbance or the loss of specimens in regards to the Line 10 project. Furthermore I am concerned about the proposed uses of herbicides and how that can result to infertility or death to Jefferson Salamanders or adverse impacts to their food supplies.
With only 10% of the populations left, and this pipeline encroaching on the last remaining habitat areas, this is a sure path to extinction unless we take action now. I propose an emergency order to protect this animal.
In the attachment is the latest email I received from the NEB staff and I request that you provide me with a confirmation that you have received this file. I have identified the fact that some of my Yahoo correspondences have been willfully censored from my mailbox. This issue was witnessed by staff at the Information and Privacy Commissioner's office. After my communications with them some of the missing emails appeared in my mailbox unread. There is a chance I might not have received previous correspondences from you. If you wish you can communicate with me at my gmail at earthwater1 at gmail.com or you may use my Yahoo and I will confirm receipt of emails from you.
If you can simply confirm you have received this email, I will be satisfied it reached you. If I do not receive confirmation within a week, I will resend this same email by other means.
Crazy times but hopefully if we can secure better protection for these animals ASAP we can save what is left.
Thank you for your time. I await news of the current status of my review.
