Hi Susan B and Ann,

Would someone from the Elora area be good – they’ve been fighting Nestle up there for years and I’m sure would be happy for an opportunity to talk about what they’re doing.

Ann – you wouldn’t by chance be the same Ann Roberts, the potter who taught at UWaterloo?

Hi GREN-

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wellesley is looking for a speaker on local enviro issues, especially water issues, for a service on Saturday, March 3, at 11 a.m. Their service is related to the World Day of Prayer. I’d be happy to do it but I will be in India. So I told my friend and colleague Ann Roberts that I’d see if any of my GREN friends would do it. It seems the church has 15-20 minutes for a speaker, wanting a little summary of our local enviro issues, with a focus on water, and some practical advice on how ordinary folk can help be responsible stewards.

It’s so great that little local groups of people like these are seeking help to get engaged---especially in the Townships! If anyone wants to do this, please contact Ann Roberts, contact info below. I’m attaching the whole email string.

Thanks!

Susan B.

Hello Susan

I have a question for you, but don’t want you to feel any pressure.

St Mark’s church in Wellesley is looking for someone to talk about local water issues (and I would think water conservation) at their World Day of Prayer service in March (not sure about the date at this point—sorry!). More details are in the email below from Susan Cook Scherer.

Just wondered if you might be interested in making a short presentation or if you know someone in the water world who might be interested/available.

Appreciate your thoughts…….and please don’t feel obligated….just asking.

Ann

Hi Ann,

The more specific environmental topic is about water, so if you know anyone who could speak to that, that would be great.

Hi Ann - and, Happy New Year!!

I have a question for you: St. Mark's is hosting this year's World Day of Prayer service in March. This year's focus country is Suriname (near Brazil), and the theme for the service is Environmental - being good stewards of God's earth (which is a huge issue in Suriname due to mining and depletion of their forests).

Would you have any suggestions of someone we could ask to be our guest speaker at the meeting, to speak on things we can do locally to be good stewards, or discuss environmental issues and ways we can help? Personally, I'd love to have you come and speak, but I'm not sure if that's something you'd be interested in? We'd need about 15 - 20 minutes during the service; a display table could also be set up with additional information.

Just thought I'd pick your brain for suggestions: any help you could provide in sourcing a speaker would be appreciated!

Hope all is going well for you Ann: I keep thinking about our breakfast at Anna Mae's - it would be great to do that again!

Have a great day!

Susan
