Hi Everyone
The Ontario Environmental Registry has a listing where the Forestry sectors want to push back their industries compliance with the Ontario Endangered Species Act from July 1 2018 to July 1 2020. They also want to weaken protections for specific species as well, including Jefferson Salamanders and their Hybrids as well.
It's shocking to read and they are looking for public comments. Please vist here and reject this idea. We need protections in place ASAP to stop extinctions in Ontario.

I left my comments. The basic ideas were:
1, What is Ontario doing removing trees around wetlands and vernal ponds?2. Jefferson Salamanders are indicator species of water recharge. Why put our water supplies at risk by removing vegetation and risking sediment compaction, reduced water volumes, water flow, flow rates and economic losses? 3.Protecting these animals protects our potable water supplies.4. Why put a vertebrae species that regrows muscles, nerves, skin and bone at risk of extinction? Hybrids have three DNA strands. These animals can give us knowledge on how to regrow human limbs and cure genetic diseases. It is scientifically valuable and worth protecting! 5.We need to end Ontario's Brinkmanship towards endangered species6. This policy serves as an illegal subsidy and it violates the Convention on Biodiversity.7.You shouldn't destroy the habitat of endangered species simply to harvest trees!
