Hi all:
Just writing to let you know that the movie, The Messenger will be showing
at the Apollo Theatre in Kitchener in case you missed it.
I saw The Messenger at the Princess Cinemas earlier this spring but I will
be seeing it again. It is a thought provoking do
cumentary about the rapid decline of our songbirds worldwide
that is best seen on the big screen.
A couple of our volunteer photographers who help collect data for our
species inventories out here in the Laurel Creek Environmentally Sensitive
Landscape have organized a showing at the Apollo Theater in Kitchener in
support of Joy Huggins of Wildlife Haven Waterloo. I am hoping maybe some
of you might want to come too.
Wildlife Haven Waterloo is licensed under the Canadian Wildlife Service and
the Ministry of Natural Resources for the care of injured animals and
birds, and Joy will soon have her licence to care for amphibians too. She
has rehabilitated so many songbirds in past years (animals as well), and
has released quite a few locally including Jane Schneider's property on
Wilmot Line. It is
a
volunteer run
operation
and relies on fund raising and donations for its
success
.
Tickets are $15 each
Thursday, June 16 at 7:00 pm
Apollo Cinema -141 Ontario St. N. Kitchener
There will be speakers and draw prizes.
Please check out the
trailer and website for more information

If you are interested in attending
this event,
you can buy your ticket on the Wildlife Haven Waterloo website
:
http://wildlifehavenwaterloo.ca/, or at the door if they are still
available. Also, if you know anyone who might be interested in joining us,
please feel free to pass this information on.
I have to tell you, I don't usually see the same movie twice; but this one
I plan to see again not only because it was visually stunning, but
especially to support Joy Huggins who has worked tirelessly to help so many
injured birds and animals in our community.
Hope to see you there,
Deb Swidrovich
