[All] work on Highway 7 to Guelph proceeding

did anyone hear MPP Daiene Vernile on CBC-KW radio this morning -she said they're breaking ground to widen Shirley Ave. to 4 lanes to get ready for extending Wellington St. (over the river ?) into Breslau/Bridgeport area, and have to tear down 2 old barns that are full of endangered birds, and also some kind of rare mussel + fish are living in the river where it will be "disturbed" - this is all for building the new highway 7 to Guelph -

Does anyone know what specifically these creatures are that are described in 3rd last paragraph? sigh,
