There are MULTIPLE applications for water takings to facilitate integrity testing of Enbridge Line 9. To view them, visit here and do a search for the term Enbridge: http://www.ebr.gov.on.ca/ERS-WEB-External/
I've got connections to Anti Line 9 groups/Enviro Groups and Indigenous Groups all along the route so I'll be making individual pitches to individual groups soon via emails, social media etc. I've been networking with many of these folks for years so it's pretty easy for me to do no problem. Takes about an hour to get everybody.
In the meantime, if there are any ideas from you regarding the more critical complainants of the applications feel free to chime in.
At the top of my head, I'd say cost stands out as an issue of concern. Water is a property of the commons. It's ours. How much potable water are they comprehensively proposing to use for these tests? What is the value of that and why should taxpayers sacrifice that resources for them to facilitate their business? What is the compensation for taxpayers in allowing them to do this?
Any of these water takings happening on Indigenous Territorial areas and have they sought permission from the respective land owners?
What water being diverted? Is it a river system with fish, vernal ponds, wetlands etc?  One cannot simply remove large quantities of surface or groundwater without proper EA assessments including draw down impacts, potential harm to habitats and fish or rare species etc. For all we know they might just be destroying these things along the route. We cannot reasonably let that happen without a proper EA study.
Feel free to relay the info.
