Hi folks
At the Heuther this Thursday Night there is an interview with a panel regarding the Robocalls incidents that took place during the 2011 federal election. Details below for your reference.
I'll be filming a segment with these folks tomorrow to discuss local robocall issues. My mom received a call and I participated in events where I met several folks who received such calls. I'll be providing them with the letter I sent to the Governor General along with articles showing how the KW record traced calls to the Conservative Party of Canada riding in Kitchener. 
This should be an interesting event.

"Robocall Scandal and Voter Suppression" documentary! Friday May 8, 2015 | Guelph, Ontario | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Fair Vote Guelph and the Guelph Chapter of the Council of Canadians are revisiting the Robocall Scandal and the 2011 Voter Suppression this month with a visit from documentary filmmaker Peter Smoczynski.   From Wednesday May 20th to Saturday May 23rd Peter Smoczynski will be screening portions of his film and doing additional recording for his documentary: Election Day in Canada: The Rise of Voter Suppression.

Ottawa-based filmmaker Peter Smoczynski is in production on a documentary: Election Day in Canada: The Rise of Voter Suppression. His visit to Guelph will mark the launch of a cross-country expedition for the final leg of shooting and fundraising for this independent film. 

During his week in Guelph, Mr. Smoczynski will be shooting additional interviews as this Federal Riding was the epicentre of the 2011 Robocall Scandal.

Fair Vote Guelph, the Guelph Chapter of the Council of Canadians and Fair Vote Waterloo Region will also be hosting three different events with the filmmaker. Each presentation will include compelling interview footage completed to date, as well as highlights from research underpinning the film. Interview subjects include MP Irwin Cotler, former Chief Electoral Officer Jean-Pierre Kingsley, investigative journalists Stephen Maher and Glen MacGregor and figures from the Council of Canadians legal challenge, lawyer Steven Shrybman and pollster Frank Graves. The audience will have an opportunity for a Q & A interaction with the filmmaker. 

The first event will take place at the main branch of the Guelph Public Library, 100 Norfolk St in Guelph, on Wednesday, May 20th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This is a free "talk and tape" presentation of the documentary currently in production.  It will be an opportunity to meet the film maker and to support his work.

The second event will take place on Thursday, May 21st from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Peter Smoczynski will be at The Board Room in the Heuther Hotel, 59 King St. N in Waterloo. This event will be hosted by Fair Vote Waterloo. 

Finally, on Saturday, May 23rd from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. a formal launch of Peter Smoczynski’s cross-country tour will take place at The Bookshelf , 41 Quebec Street in Guelph. This will mark the official launch of Smoczynski’s cross-country tour. University of Guelph Professor Emeritus, Michael Keefer, will join the filmmaker for this presentation. Professor Keefer brings his expertise on the Robocall Scandal as he has been working on a book on the 2011 Vote Suppression. Admission for this event is $20 and includes a reception in the E-Bar with hors d’oeuvres and cash bar at 4 pm. Tickets for the Bookshelf event, will go on sale Friday, May 8th at the Bookshelf and on-line through Eventbrite.

Broken Covenant: Blistering report on 9 years of Harper agenda
Hot on the heels of the Conservative defeat in Alberta, Maude Barlow is calling on Canadians to send the federal Tories packing as well.
