Hi folks
I just uncovered this ungodly mess I followed bits and pieces of this  news story for some time and now it is hte first time I've pieced it all together. It's quite a sight. 
Here is how. Harper took over control of Canadian Geographic. Who is allies are and what they have done.  I dare say the censorship may also apply to the Toronto Star as well. 
Here ya go.

4. John Geiger, the CEO of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society says his organization had no editorial control over a Franklin expedition documentary by CBC which was woefully inaccurate.

 5. John Geiger, CEO of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, just received the new Polar Medal but folks are upset.  It was part of the reason why Mr. Watson resigned and why Mr. Jim Basilli is upset.  6. Geiger gave RCGS fellowships to PM Harper and wife in 2013. They have many private meetings. Funding is received. Geiger gave Stephen and Laureen Harper RCGS Erebus medals in 2015. John Geiger receives the Governor General's Polar Medal in 2015.  
7.  Paul Watson says that six weeks earlier, his editor placed a "reporting ban" on him, instructing him that “you must cease all reporting on anything related to John Geiger.”
