Climate Summit of the AmericasClimate Summit of the Americas is underway today. I've been following Twitter feeds of Author Jim Harris. Some of the highlights early on: Green Bonds = Fastest Growing Investment Vehicle: Standard & Poor’s Estimates 2X Growth in 2015 to $30 Billion. Carbon Pricing in BC Saw Fuel Use Fall 18.8% While Economy Grew Faster Than Rest of Canada. Graph by Universty of Massachusetts released shows the difference between green jobs vs. Fossil fuels. Graph in the attachments. See more by following @JimHarris  on Twitter.
Provincial News:
ECO's Ontario Climate Change UpdateEnvironmental Commissioner of Ontario just released their Ontario Climate Change report. We will NOT meet 2020 targets unless further actions to reduce emissions are taken. All the details right here: http://www.eco.on.ca/index.php/en_US/pubs/greenhouse-gas-reports/2015-ghg-feeling-the-heat

Closing Coal = 0 smog days! Kathleen Wynn presented at the summit today saying that Ontario closed it's last Coal Fired Plant and went from 53 smog days to ZERO.  She also states it is important that kids learn about mental health, coping skills and great communication and referenced this URL with this message:  http://ontario.ca/HPE
10,000+ marched at Toronto's JobsClimateJustice Rally! it was a fantastic event filled to the brim with an ocean of people and the best news coverage of the day came from the UK Guardian.http://www.theguardian.com/environment/true-north/2015/jul/06/historic-toronto-climate-march-calls-for-new-economic-vision To view lovely photos of the day's events visit here; http://jobsjusticeclimate.ca/
Suncor looking for Money sells off Green EnergySuncor is selilng 2 Ontario Windfarm operations to TransAlta: http://seekingalpha.com/news/2617445-transalta-suncor-swap-power-generating-assetsThis does NOT surprise me because Suncor just finished an NEB hearing against Enbridge saying increased tarrifs associated with the delay of Line 9 are not theirs to assume. They filed a formal complaint against Enbrige with the NEB. The evidence is here; https://docs.neb-one.gc.ca/ll-eng/llisapi.dll/fetch/2000/90465/92835/155829/2423778/2491443/2671530/2680568/2686223/B-1-05-02_-_RHW-001-2015_SEMI_Evidence_-_A4H7E1.pdf?nodeid=2687106&vernum=-2I don't know if the decision has been made or not but the NEB hearing was sometime in May.
Blast from the Past:I was reviewing old data of Line 9 and found  the 9 page Enbridges Line 9 phase 1 application to the NEB and it's bad to the point of being laughable really. (Just to become a participant to the hearing is a 10 page application form...)  I don't know who put the green check marks in this but it is rather handy to flag the most outrageous omissions of the project. Whoever filled this out clearly assumed the reversal of flow  was limited to only the pumping station without any regard for actual offsite impacts.  This is represents the very root of the Line 9 issues. The fact it was actually approved is a travesty that goes beyond common sense to but they did the same thing again with Line 9B. Still waiting for common sense to prevail...https://docs.neb-one.gc.ca/ll-eng/llisapi.dll/fetch/2000/90464/90552/92263/706191/706437/706045/A2C0U9_-_Line_9_Reversal_Phase_I_Project.pdf?_gc_lang=en&nodeid=705901&vernum=0

42 Groups support Chippewas of the Thames vs. Line 9An outstanding list of groups stand united in releasing a public letter to show their support for the Court challenge of Chippewas of the Thames regarding the lack of Indigenous Consent for Enbridge Line 9. Looks like common sense might prevail after all!  You can view it here: http://toronto.mediacoop.ca/story/open-letter-support-chippewas-thames-first-nation%E2%80%99/33671
