Hi folks
Frogwatch is looking to protect Western Chorus Frogs. I've written the city and region to request the protection of ESPA 19 and 17's ponds for Western Chorus Frogs because I have years of Frogwatch report for these species in the area. If you know of other locations, time to speak up to help the critters.

Subject: Wetland Assessments for Chorus Frogs
Hello fellow FrogWatchers!
The Toronto Zoo's Adopt-A-Pond Wetland Conservation Programme is currently seeking landowners who are interested in creating management plans for their wetlands. This initiative, connected to both the FrogWatch Ontario and Wetland Guardians programmes, is being run as part of a larger programme to help protect the threatened Western Chorus Frog, a Species at Risk in Ontario, along with several other wetland species.
Attached is a map of Western Chorus Frog observations documented between 1988 and 2008 across Ontario. The area shaded in grey is our primary focus (especially properties close to Lake Ontario and Lake Huron), while the area shaded in red is our secondary focus. If you have a wetland measuring 5 acres or more (either permanent or temporary) and have heard or seen what you think might be Western Chorus Frogs in it, please let us know! We would love to work with you to create a plan to help maintain or improve your Chorus Frog habitat. If the wetland area you have is large enough, it may even qualify for a tax break!
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact us so we may explain further details to you and discuss the possibility of a visit to your wetland. Feel free to share this opportunity with neighbours and friends who have wetlands as well.
We thank you for your interest in protecting Ontario's frogs!
Sincerely,
The Adopt-A-Pond Team
