[All] Why I don't believe the Region is innocent

Hi everyone

In the attachments is the data I've gathered about the Boardwalk, that mega mall beside the dump. This case flags issues of blatant corruption not only at the city level but the regional level too. I presented my concerns to both the city of Waterloo and the City of Kitchener and there was no plausible deniability.

I personally met with Regional Hydrology Staff who said they had not reviewed this project before it was approved.  The Waterloo city planners stated they don't work with Regional hydrology staff at all unless it's a watershed study. The Region's hydrologists told me they can't get involved unless the planners contact them to be involved.

The Region was informed on these issues as well. I even spoke to the fella in charge of the Landfill at the Region and he had serious concerns for public safety in regards to air emissions, methane that was too wet to rise up and was told, "your job ends at the fence line." He had no jurisdiction to address any offsite issues at all in regards to the mega mall project.

The GRCA's overwhelming neglect to address the destruction of the pond and creek was inexcusable. The excuse I got was that land owners can modify water features on their properties if the lands are agricultural designation. That it some how gave the green light for destruction of the natural features on this massive scale.

Right now studies are done "to the satisfaction of the City and Region and GRCA" but the quality of that data is currently subjective and in my view the data is so bad it's unreasonable. This is why I believe it is absolutely imperative that we secure reasonable criteria for test times and methods at the Provincial Level. That if provincial standards are not reasonably met, there will be consequences. That if damages occur based on poor EA data, there will be consequences for the engineering firms involved or for the municipality that approved it. It's the only way we can overcome this. Change won't happen locally. It's too corrupt. There is hope in the revision of the bore hole data. We must look there for solutions.
