Dear Friends of Sustainability and the 7th Generation:

You are among thousands of people with whom we've connected around
shifting society's goal toward long-term well-being. Each of us holds
parts of the solution in our hearts and minds. I'm grateful for your
interest and efforts toward change. There is much we can accomplish
by staying in touch.

Monthly updates are now available:
http://www.sustainwellbeing.net/welcome_aboard.html

My apologies if you receive this more than once. I'm sending it to
all my lists as this will be the last general mailing from the
Sustainability Project. Except for personal communication, from this
message forward, our news, ideas and projects will only be shared via
the mail system linked above.
Please sign-on. I promise no more than one email a month.

Shifting Society's Goals:

It is time for a new goal; one that is fair to all and protects the
Earth. After thirty five years studying cultural evolution we've now
refined what we have discovered about changing our world into this
free ten part mini-course on shifting society's goals. One short
article or video will come each week, if you ask at:
http://www.sustainwellbeing.net/minicourse.html

As individuals, our lives move from youthful growth to maturity. So
too, as human activity touches planetary limits, our species faces
maturity. The hope and enthusiasm needed to create a viable future
for humankind are only as far away as a shared recognition of the
challenge we face and of a responsible goal focused on long-term well-
being. Together we can cultivate such recognition.

Each of Us Can Help:

Creating a society that has not existed before requires that people
talk with each other. The more that people initiate conversations
about better ways to live, the more others start to feel that it is
possible. We've spent years collecting food for thought and topics
for conversation at:
http://www.SustainWellBeing.net
To make a difference, learn something new and/or share your thoughts
and feelings with a new person every week.

It may feel awkward to change the topic from consumption and growth to
long-term well-being, but what have we got to loose, except everything
we love. Such conversations are an opportunity to look deeper into why
you believe what you believe and to ask others why they believe what
they believe. This is how society evolves. (Award winning musician
Terry Tufts provides this song, "In the Language of Love," to convey
the feeling that awaits us when we step outside the conventional
paradigm and take steps toward the new order.

Please share this if you think it would interest others.

Thank you for your interest. I hope we can travel this path together.

		Yours, Mike N.

Resources available for Shifting Society's Goals:

The Question of Direction program highlights the fundamental choice
that we have to make.
It is introduced as "The Challenge and the Goal" at:
http://www.SustainWellBeing.net/challenge_and_goal.html

- "Seeds for Change" are small cards that make it easy to raise the
issue,
http://www.SustainWellBeing.net/seeds.html
Not everyone has the words at the tip of their tongues to introduce
the topic. These cards provide the introduction, your sincerity makes
it a matter of interest to others.

- A Think Tank Blog/Discussion on the topic of change and how to bring
it about. What have you tried? How did it go? What are we up to?
What can we learn from each other?

- The free mini-course on Shifting Society's Goals, Project Updates

To be truly radical is to make hope possible,
rather than despair convincing.
