Hi folks

Enbridge is going to reverse flow on an oil pipeline that currently runs from Sarnia to Montreal in order to ship the oil to the Gulf of Mexico. I have included a Map of the route in the attachments. Route #9 is the one being augmented. The oil heading south will go by Ayr and it looks like it runs along the Grand.

Problems include:

Sending higher volumes of oil that may exceed previous design constraints. (Higher PSI volumes being shipped)
Sending different quality of oil through the pipeline (Ranging from light to heavy crude)
Proximity of pipeline to Great Lakes and potential impacts to water ways
This is facilitating more processing of Tar Sands oil in Sarnia. Related issues of air quality and toxicity need to be explored.
Oil spills have ALREADY occurred to the existing pipes feeding in and out of this system.

The public hearing is currently underway. They are accepting written submissions from groups.  I would like to suggest that GREN create a statement to submit in regards to this project. We might wish to form a subcommittee to review this matter in greater detail.

Enbridge previously tried to bypass the need for a hearing but the Energy Board denied the request so now is the time to send in comments.
