[All] Erie's Algae: Growing much worse. Lastest photo

I think most of us know that because of the Great Lakes Protection Act and
the fear of the abuse of 'water taking over the years' from other countries
etc.,, it is now only possible to take water from a Great Lake ONLY if you
can return it directly. The only Lake accessible to us is Lake ERIE
because the Grand River and its tributaries lead to ERIE eventually. Prof.
Emeritus Emil Frind has warned repeatedly that we 'must take care of our
Ground Water' which he has constantly referred to as "Liquid Gold"
because in 2035 we will probably NOT be able to count on Erie, the smallest
and shallowest and in the past one of the most contaminated Lakes. At
this point we do not have access to any of the other 4. And probably will
not have access in the future.
My brother-in-law Frank Quinn worked for many years in Ottawa for the
protection of our Great Lakes. Ships from other countries were taking mega
water in the past, and the fear that without the ACT they would deplete the
Lakes very quickly. Emil is so busy these days that I'm copying this to
Michael who has been well taught by Emil and if I have misstated anything I
stand corrected.
But then we have our own Great Lakes expert in John Jackson who has also
worked for years to protect them. Thanks John. Ginny Q.

Thanks Lulu and dw. Lakefield (near Peterborough) gets its water from
dam-created Katchewanooka Lake. part of the Trent-Severn Waterway
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otonabee_River
). In summer algae grows on the Lake. Their water treatment plant
chlorinates the algae-water producing carcinogens, e.g.
