The second annual national celebration of all things organic, Organic Week, is just two weeks away ! Canadian Organic Growers Perth-Waterloo-Wellington has coordinated a series of local events spanning October 15-22 to celebrate and raise awareness of the benefits of local organic food and farming. Please join us and circulate all the event details among your networks.

Meet the Producers at Healthy Foods & More

Visit Healthy Foods & More in Waterloo and meet the people (and cows!) who produce our local organic food.

Laepple Organic Farm Tour
Sunday, October 16th

Enjoy a visit to an organic beef and potato farm where you will also see goats, chickens and flour milled from grain grown right on the farm. Email Linda at laepple at golden.net to reserve your spot at least two days prior to the event.

Organic Oasis Farm Tour
Saturday, October 22nd

Enjoy a wagon ride around this mixed farm and see organic pasture, dairy cows, beef cattle, and vegetables growing. Also take in the scenery – forested areas, ponds, and solar panels. There will be occasional breaks along the way and lunch is available for purchase at the farm store. Call the farm store at 519-625-1177 to reserve your spot on the tour at least two days prior to the event. Only 30 spots available. 



Take a Bite Out of Climate Change Bus Tour
Saturday, October 22nd
9:00am-3:00pm 
Join us on a biodiesel-powered bus tour of three local organic farms in Wellington County and learn about the climate-change mitigating potential of local organic agriculture. We’ll visit Ignatius Farm, Everdale Organic Farm, and Mapleton’s Organic to see organic farming in practice and discuss the links between agriculture, food and climate change along the way with Ralph Martin, Loblaw Chair in Sustainable Food Production at the University of Guelph. Cost $10/person. Meet at Ignatius Farm Workshop at 9:00am. Biodiesel supplied by Everpure Biodiesel Coop and bus services provided by Sharp Bus Lines. Tour schedule is as follows: 
9:00-10:00 Tour Ignatius Farm 
10:00-10:30 Travel to Everdale
10:30-11:30 Tour Everdale
11:30-12:30 Travel to Mapleton's 
12:30-1:00 Lunch Break (Mapleton's Restaurant open) 
1:00-2:00 Tour Mapleton’s
2:00-3:00 Travel back to Ignatius
