Volunteer sought to fill vacancy on Lake Erie Region Source Protection Committee
Applications are being accepted until Dec. 2, 2011 to fill a vacancy for a public interest (general public) representative on the Lake Erie Region Source Protection Committee.  
The 25-member committee is overseeing development of source protection plans for municipal water supplies in four watersheds: Grand River, Long Point Region, Catfish Creek and Kettle Creek. The work is being done under the Ontario Clean Water Act 2006.
The vacant seat is one of six for members of the general public. The term will begin in January and last for three years. Other members of the committee represent municipalities, farmers, businesses, industries and First Nations. The committee has the responsibility to submit the four source protection plans to the Ministry of Environment by August 2012.
An application form and other information is available at www.sourcewater.ca or at the head offices of the four Conservation Authorities in the Lake Erie Region.
