Subject: G&M letter and Citizens Climate Lobby

Hi Greg,

Were you the one who penned the terrific letter to the editor posted on the Globe & Mail on Saturday regarding the Keystone XL pipeline? Great letter!

I'm a volunteer with the Citizens Climate Lobby. I facilitate the Toronto group. We have 15 groups in Canada and growing and now about 40 groups in the US working to create the political will for a sustainable climate. We lobby our MPs and MPPs on specific policy, write letters to the editor and meet with the editorial boards of our local newspapers. Our focus right now is to create the political will to put a tax on carbon and give the dividend back to Canadians. We've also met with the World Bank and industry leaders. We're making good headway with the NDP and are working with Kirsty Duncan - Liberal Environment Critic - to get a petition in the House of Commons so she can put climate change on the agenda.

Would you be interested in learning more? It would be amazing to get a CCL group up and running in Waterloo. If you are interested, Mark Reynolds, the Executive Director of CCL will lead the introductory call to prospective members this Wednesday at 8pm (via teleconference). He'll lead another one on Thursday same time. If you are interested, please let me know what day and I will ask him to send you the call-in details. Feel free to call me at 416-875-0097 to learn more as well.

This is what Dr. James Hansen had to say about the Citizens Climate Lobby:

"Most impressive is the work of the Citizens Climate Lobby, a relatively new, fastgrowing, nonpartisan, nonprofit group with 35 chapters across the United States and Canada. If you want to join the fight to save the planet, to save creation for your grandchildren, there is no more effective step you could take than becoming an active member of this group (www.citizensclimatelobby.org<http://www.citizensclimatelobby.org/>).”

The Canadian site is www.citizensclimatelobby.ca

Cheers,
Cheryl
