Educational Forum: The Region of Waterloo's GHG Reduction Plan

There are a number of Observing Organizations within the Regional Carbon Initiative (RCI) that recognize the importance of not only setting a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target but also creating a plan to reach that goal. Since joining the RCI in April 2010, the Region of Waterloo has set an example for Observing Organizations looking to make GHG reduction commitments: they have identified their annual GHG emissions to be 148,000 tonnes and have set a 14% reduction target per capita.

In this educational forum, David Roewade, the Region's Environmental Sustainability Planner, will share the Region's process of using the support provided by Sustainable Waterloo to create a thorough GHG inventory and action plan to reach a practical reduction target that balances environmental and financial responsibility with community need.
