[All] Strasburg Rd South EA

Hi Everyone,
I was given a brief overview from staff today about the second phase of the Strasburg Rd EA. I was very disturbed to see that they are planning on tendering the first portion of the road by the end of 2011. The second part of the road is still under review and may have a completely different alignment due to the very serious environmental impacts. 
No surprise to me they have found bluespotted salamander and the consultant told me after the meeting that they expect to find some Jeff's. All the conditions are right for this especially having found them just northwest at Fischer-Hallman and Bleams and again in the Doon south area. They also have to cross Strasburg Creek again and Blair Creek as well as a PSW and recharge areas.
 
I am asking everyone that can attend to please attend the Public Information Session on June 1 at Brigadoon School on Caryndale Rd.
We NEED people to protest loudly about the first section of the road going through a pristine forest and crossing one branch of Strasburg Creek which has undergone so many attacks from development in the last 7-10 years.

Then also people who do not support the continuation of the road or at the very minimum the most westerly option which the consultant suggested as the best option but it does cross the countryside line.  We just have to make sure that we( City councillors) do not cave in to development pressures from developers.
