Water consumption declining, but rates are on the rise
This news story speaks of how in spite of conservation efforts, water rates are still increasing but overall reduced use is delaying the need for a Lake Erie Pipeline and this may save taxpayers in the future.

Agency says inactive extraction sites may pose threat to drinking water
Last year the Lake Erie Source Protection Region committee asked the ministry to consider below water aggregate as a risk to drinking water and the ministry rejected the request, but now they ask the ministry to look at identifying post-extraction as a threat. Risks include: storage of fuel, use of pesticides and fertilizers, waste disposal,septic systems and contaminate fill. Details here:

National News: Harper is planning on a 59 per cent reduction for annual climate-change 
and clean-air initiatives to $99 million from $240 million:

Council of Canadians: He allocates 1 billion for the environment and 20 billion on defense! 

John 
Bennett, Executive Director of Sierra Club Canada state: “And tackling climate
 change and protecting the environment are not among them." He added, “We're replacing Canada’s Action Plan with an official inaction plan."
