This is an email I just received to help the folks in North Dufferin protect their potato farms from the mega Quarry

Highland Companies in North Dufferin County are intent on purchasing the rail bed for hauling crushed aggregate products to an open port or, once sold,
transporting anything the owner wants on any schedule, frequency, etc..   The rail was sold to the County years ago for $1.00 and back
taxes (about $300,000.00 if I remember correctly) and is currently used as a
walking/hiking/biking/riding/ATVing trail in the summer and a snowmobile trail
in the winter, creating economic benefit for the community.  A fully loaded
train will NOT be stopping for meals or gas to boost the local
economy.

The Orangeville Banner is running a survey asking:
Would you like to see the rail corridor
restored between Orangeville and Owen Sound?

The poll is about 1/2 WAY down the page on the left hand
side.

I am not telling you HOW to vote, just asking you TO
vote-ASAP.

Thanks.
