[All] Election Question & My Response

Hello *****,

As sufficient healthy food is essential for humans to function
adequately in all activities -- from work, to family duties, to just
enjoying Life in good health -- I would very much be in favour of more
money ($100+? -- I would need to research this) being made available
to those on Social Assistance. In fact, I would support the IDEA of
access to sufficient healthy food as Basic Human Right.

And I have IDEAS to make practical the achievement of these
objectives including Community Underground Solar Greenhouses where
local organic food can be grown -- using volunteer labour (those on
social assistance &/or retirees) -- with no external energy input
except geo-thermal (8' deep pit) and solar (45 degree glass or plastic
window on solar south with other 3 (approx. 6') sides and roof earth
covered for insulation & nature-scaping). The President of the UofG
was supportive of such a project in cooperation with the City of
Guelph (my indirect initiation) until the financial shortfall from the
Province about 4 years ago.

The IDEA that I am suggesting here (similar to Habitat For Humanity's
sweat equity) is that your sweat labour would give you food in return
-- with guidelines for preparing it in a tasty & healthy manner -- so
that your income goes further (questions of claw-back would need to be
researched). Those unable to work would still receive a share of the
bounty (produced by some of the retirees at least).

I also have IDEAS for other types of (part-time+) Green Jobs that
could help those on Social Assistance who are able to work.

In a time where a chronic sluggish economy will be forcing taxes down,
the general IDEA here is to create opportunities to earn supplementary
money (or its goods equivalent) for those who are in a situation that
normally requires tax funds for support. While not eliminating the
need for Social Assistance in most situations, such practical IDEAS
could help minimize the amount required -- and help create the
positive feeling generated by doing sustainable work.

And those who cannot work would at least be feeling better from both
the healthy food itself and knowing where the next meal is going to
come from.

Call me if you wish to discuss this further, 519-696-2288.

Best regards,
Robert
