Hello All,

With response to the Kitchener Council countryside line motion..

I am confused. Can anyone clarify what happens if the agenda item to protect
the countryside line is

- kept in the ROP

- the ROP then is provincially approved

- & then in the following 20 day grace period allowed appealed by the
developers

Does this mean that

- the ROP is not legal until the appeal is resolved

- the ROP can deliberately be delayed for an extended period of
time by tying it up in appeal process

- the countryside line is then legally unprotected for an extended
period of time?

Did Kitchener pass last night's motion

- to protect against development (in Kitchener) during an appeal
process if it occurs

- to avoid the expense of being dragged into the appeal process
with regards to their lands

- to add a backup layer of protection for Kitchener lands

- Is protection for 5 years better than possible no protection?

Seeking clarity,

Sandra Lachance

Hello All,
It has been suggested to me that we should each send a short message to all
the Regional councillors to say....
1. I support the permanent protection of the Countryside line;

2. it is essential to protect the water recharge areas in the SW corner of
Kitchener;

and, following Kitchener's appalling vote Monday night, 5/1, to not support
the countryside line that

3.you are appalled by the position Kitchener councillors (except John
Gazzola) took on June 28th; and

4.that you hope they will vote on Wednesday to protect the countryside line,
and complete the Regional Official Policy (ROP).

If you want more information about Monday's Kitchener Council meeting, check
the Record or CTY. I was so impressed by the thoughtful people who spoke,
including Yvonne Fernandes, Ginny Quinn, Susan Koswan, Deb Swidrovitch, and
Louisette Lanteigne recommending that councillors should not vote to not
protect the countryside line.

Thanks!,
Daphne
