Ms. Lanteigne.
The meetings are public meetings. They will be advertised in the paper. We will also be directly inviting those people who own property within the protection area to come to the meeting.
The purpose of the meetings is to discuss the vulnerability mapping related to the Clean Water Act. We will not be presenting any mitigation strategies at this time as they have not been developed. This will be completed by 2012 in accordance with the Clean Water Act. We will also not be discussing in any way protection of the Waterloo or Galt Moraines.

Hello Mr. Eby
In Today's Kitchener Waterloo Record, the front page featured the following article:
Region targets 2,655 properties that could pose threat to groundwater
http://news.therecord.com/News/Local/article/664119
In the article it states the following passage:
The province has told planners not to publicly identify properties that could threaten groundwater. Owners will be invited to a series of public meetings this spring, to explain next steps.
Based on the wording of today's article it was unclear if it would be a meeting open to only property owners or the general public. Please email me to clarify that.
David Wellhauser of Waterlooians and I, among others, applied for a Waterloo Moraine Protection Act using the Environmental Bill of Rights. We are active community volunteers who have spent years educating the public about the Waterloo Moraine and the need to establish better source water protection. If this meeting is only for property owners, I would like to ask Regional Staff and/or the Provincial Ministers if we may be privy to this series of public meetings in order to better understand the issues and to observe what sorts of mitigation strategies are proposed.
As NGO's, Mr. Wellhauser and I have a quite a wide communication network working with various Government agencies and conservation groups. In understanding what Waterloo Region views as potential risks and how they can be circumvented, we can better advocate for stronger source water protection policies at the provincial and federal levels. Our goal is to get more communities looking at similar issues in their respective jurisdictions in order to protect and preserve their water supplies.
Please respond by email if our attendance to these workshops would be acceptable.
I would like to thank Regional Staff for taking the initiative for looking into this matter. It is an excellent thing to do and it is my sincere hope that other communities will follow this example including Guelph along the Galt Paris Moraine System.
Thank you kindly for your time and your continued efforts in protecting this valuable resources. It is greatly appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
Louisette Lanteigne
