Hello Everyone
This is an official request for "bums in seats" and citizen feedback.
This Monday in Waterloo City Council Meeting, starting at 6:30pm at 100 Regina Street Waterloo, the proposed ballot question regarding the merger of Waterloo to Kitchener will be addressed as subject #2.
In the attachments are documents regarding this. The first document is the description of this topic as noted in the Draft Agenda. (They avoided using the world amalgamation in exchange for the word merger.)
I've also included the related supporting documents for your reference.
Background
At this time, many believe that Kitchener has a very bullish city vision with aspirations to push development beyond natural constraint areas and municipal boundry lines while Waterloo tempers it's approach to growth with a more sustainable vision, fostering reurbanization and scientific studies in order to have regard to natural constraint areas. People fear the merger of the two cities will destroy the balance at the Regional level resulting in lower standards of planning that will degrade our natural environment and weaken our political voices. It is vital to keep Waterloo a strong independent voice in City and Regional Council.
Monday Night 6:30, Waterloo City Council Chambers.
