FYI for those interested in still submitting comments on the PPS whether on the environmental part of it or cultural.
This email came to me from a ministry employee.

As mentioned at our last meeting, culture is absent from the 2005 Provincial Policy Statement

As you know, the Ontario government has undertaken a review of land use planning policies, detailed in the Provincial Policy Statement, 2005. While formal input gathering was completed at the end of October 2010, it is my understanding that comments are still being received. For information on where to provide comment go to: http://www.mah.gov.on.ca/Page9055.aspx

It may not be too late to let the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing know that culture has a place in the PPS e.g.

Part III should be revised to say "A policy led planning system recognizes and addresses the complex interrelationships
among environmental, economic, social and cultural factors in

land use planning." Other general statements such as that at the outset of

Part IV might say something like: "The long-term prosperity and social wellbeing

of Ontarians depend on maintaining strong communities, a clean and

healthy environment, a strong economy and a vibrant culture."
