Hi everyone
To raise awareness and support for Bill 138 Protection of Public Participation Act, 2008 I used rope, I held my rosary and just recalled the feelings of the Activa SLAPP. My husband Alex took the photo and it's posted on Environmental Defence's facebook. Pictures speak louder than words. This is what it feels like.

I sent emails to the members of the Ontario Legislature. I've included the second half of my correspondence to them for your reference if you want to know more of what actually happened.
Plese write your MPP and support this one. It matters.
Lulu

The official apology that settled the SLAPP lawsuit with Activa Holdings, had to be published in the papers. I did not write any of it. It was given to me to publish and stated the following:
During the period of April 2005 to October 2005, I broadcasted numerous statements alleging environmental and labour law infringements by Activa Holdings Inc. on a website I established. Since broadcasting those statements, I have since learned that Activa is not responsible for any of the fuel spills or labour law infringements depicted or reported on my website. Activa has not been charged with any environmental or labour law infringements. I apologize unreservedly to Activa Holding Inc. for these broadcasts. I am pleased to make this clarification and apology and regret any inconvenience and embarrassment which may have been caused to Activa Holdings Inc.
My website features the photos from my subdivision of Columbia Forest. Please view the City of Waterloo documents in the attachments to find out who they held accountable for multiple environmental infringements as photographed on my website.
The day before the settlement I was the victim of a hit and run that destroyed our only car. I was hit by a pick up truck that rammed into the side of my car, backed up and rammed me again into oncoming traffic before they took off. My baby girl was in the back seat. I was in shock and the police took 2 hours to get to the scene because they mixed up my car crash with one further down the same street. They never caught the person who hit my vehicle.
At the time of the settlement my lawyer told me it would cost at least $250 per hour to fight them on the wording of the apology. I was told "they want to bleed us dry". I already spent $8,000 on legal fees and now with no car, I couldn't afford to fight so I gave in.
When I saw the story in print I threw up. My parents had to come to Waterloo to watch the kids because I suffered a nervous break down with endless fits of crying, nausea and depression. Even as I write this, I cry.
How can it be legal to make a person lie in the media? That is exactly what happened to me.
Please help stop SLAPPs and support more environmental enforcement.
