Some of you may be aware that I travelled to Sudan in November to help establish
some locally owned sustainable businesses (water treatment, water bottling,
internet cafe, tilapia (fish) pond and mango drying).  CTV news (Rogers channel 12, channel 13 on antenna,
not on bell) has chosen to air a story on Enviro-Stewards’
services that build sustainability leaders at home (North
 America) and in the developing world.

 

Specifically, this November we began offering sustainability credits to
our clients in North America that help finance
the aforementioned sustainable projects in the developing world.  In Copenhagen this week,
avoidance of deforestation was finally starting to be recognized as a vital
component in fighting climate change.  

 

Mayor Halloran of Waterloo
(personally) and Sustainable Waterloo have purchased our first deforestation
based voluntary carbon credits.  Also, Veriform purchased our first water
credits (they paid for sufficient biofilters to be constructed in Sudan to offset all of the potable water that
they are consuming in Cambridge,
 Ontario.
