Hi Everyone,

Meena (from REEP) and I both went to the meeting tonight for
the 100 Debates. The plan is to have a debate in each riding
which will be live-streamed on Facebook and also recorded. All
candidates will receive 4 questions ahead of the event to
prepare their personal plan to deal with climate change,
water, wildlife and pollution/toxics. We're still short of a
team in Cambridge, so I said I would ask Stephanie or maybe
even Bob Burtt to see if they can pull enough people together
          to do this.

Also we can come up with our own local issues to ask them
about. They thought GREN would be good to do that, but I'm
sure everyone else can do so also.

All the debates across the country including our area will be
          October 7, 2019 from 7 - 9.

100 Debates provides a planning kit which is pretty
          straightforward.

Tonight was getting the people attending into their riding
groups and I'm hoping Laura will be able to provide the person
taking the lead on organizing these for all of us to connect
with. It means meeting with your riding people (and they
started lists tonight), getting a location ASAP that will hold
about 200 people, an experienced moderator and them promoting
          the heck out of it.

So they've made it very easy for us. All of us can
participate as individuals, rather than representing
organizations, so that the appearance is that environmental
issues are universal - exactly as they should be.

Meena - did I miss anything.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi all,

Yes, I included the link to GreenPAC in my first
email. :-) I wanted to know if anyone else had heard
of them, or who they are. The only response I've had
to my email inquiry was that they received it.

But, having a forum was suggested at the
Environmental Defence "Ontario is not for sale" event
recently and they said they could connect us, so I'm
trying that route now. I'm completely supportive of
working with an existing effort. Based on what I can
see, we have to organize the debates, but then their
website would list us as having one. They list by
riding rather than region, but I don't think we have
the capacity to do that - as much as I'd like to.

Another thought is to have someone from our
respective groups interviewing each candidate for 10
minutes or so, rather than having a big public event.
All we need is a location in each riding where we
invite all the candidates for their time-slot, someone
to interview, someone to film - even my cellphone
takes great videos - and a place to post the videos.

Someone did that, but longer interviews, for the last

know that it's very effective in
                                    really understanding the difference
                                    between candidates when there's so

think it would be good to have a
                                    more thoughtful process, that could
possibly build on the questions that
CAWR is asking, or one question per
                                    organization, or one question per
                                    environmental topic. Candidates
                                    could provide a written response
that we post, and then have a
whopping 5 minutes to touch on any
                                    aspect of those questions.

I found this on-line - not sure who

contacted them to get more info
