[GREN-Exec] Fwd: Rally at harris campaign office?

Hi GREN Executive,

I’ve had Mike Balkwill from the Wellington Water Watchers reach out to me this morning with the e-mail below, wondering if we should be organizing at demonstration at Mike Harris Jr’s Campaign Office opening? The WWW is willing to help mobilize people but they are hoping to have some local folks take the lead.

Very interesting that it isn’t anyone from the current government supporting him but his Dad propping him up again at the event.

Even more interesting is that his election office isn’t even located in his riding! This plaza is in the City of Kitchener in Laura Mae Lindo’s riding. Granted it is only about 1/2 km from the edge of Mike’s riding but given the vast size of his riding I’m amazed he couldn’t find an office somewhere in it. I wonder if one of his Dad’s developer buddies is providing this free space for the next month?

At the very least we could have a lot of fun with a campaign to “Help Mike find his riding” and really play up that he’s not from around here. At least the other candidates and media could have a lot of fun with it and he isn’t going to be able to put up much signage around his office.

I have a crazy week of meetings and commitments but I will try to help however I can.

We only need to flip 5 ridings in Ontario to push Doug Ford into a minority government and he is doomed. Mike’s riding is one of the most vulnerable in Ontario as he only won by 0.3% of the vote last time, he isn’t liked locally, and has both strong Liberal and NDP candidates running against him and a new Blue Party member who could siphon some of the Conservative votes too. Some time and effort spent here could yield some of the best ROI in Ontario.

I don’t think that GREN can officially sponsor, however I think we could circulate a notice to our membership and work to get some folks out on Saturday which is supposed to be a nice sunny day.

Time will be of the essence so please let me know how I should respond to the Wellington Water Watchers.

Thanks,
Kevin.

> Hi Kevin. See below. Are you aware of this? WhT do you think about a Waterloo based group/coalition organizing a demo? WW can mobilize people to join and even Cosponsor but I think it best local group is the lead.
