[GREN-Exec] ROP Update

Hi GREN Executive,

It has continued to be busy over the past few days since the Regional Council meeting.  I’ve done a lot of work with the media and there have been news articles in the Record, The Wilmot Post, and the CBC.  Alex from Hold the Line also did a great radio show with Craig Norris on the CBC too.  I have continued additional efforts and dialog with various media (including our own Susan K!) and we have been looking the 7 part series that the CBC did in Hamilton and other coverage to learn from.

There are now five groups involved (including GREN) in the webinar tomorrow (Monday 7:00pm):

There has been 5 planning meetings over the past week and we now have 126 people registered for the Webinar so far.  I will present a Regional Official Plan 101 for the first 35 minutes and then Stephanie Goertz from 50x30WR will do a 30 minute overview on Advocacy 101 then we will do some Q&A.  Hopefully there will be good engagement and things will come across well.

Confidentially - I have also had meetings with key Regional Officials and various planners (Kevin Eby and others) as we try to figure out how to twist Ford’s Land Needs Assessment methodology in ways never expected to work in our favour rather than land speculators.  There is some promising ideas that we will continue to delve into.

Keep me posted on any thoughts and we will see how things continue to unfold.
